Call for D16 T/OT Second Negotiator

 

The District 16 Teacher & Occasional Teacher bargaining unit is currently accepting applications for the position of Second Negotiator. Please note that this position is not a full time-release position but may include some release days during bargaining.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The Second Negotiator duties are assigned by the First Negotiator/Staffing Officer and can include attending Council meetings and Collective Bargaining Committee (CBC) meetings, assisting the First Negotiator/Staffing Officer as needed and being a member of the local negotiating team.

 

Key Competencies and Prior Experiences:

 

  • Knowledge of our collective agreement 

  • Highly proficient organizational skills

  • Experience with survey development and organizing research projects 

  • Expert verbatim note-taking skills

  • Ability to work with members in a collaborative, supportive way 

  • Advanced understanding of utilizing Google Docs/Drive for organisational purposes

 

Time Commitments:

 

  • Approximately 5 release days for the 2025-2026 school year

  • Approximately 20-25 release days for the 2026-2027 school year

  • Periodic evening meetings, approximately 1 per month or bi-monthly, or as needed

 

Honorarium:

 

$850 per semester

Applicants are asked to submit a written statement of no more than 250 words where they answer the following question with a focus on the key competencies/prior experiences as mentioned above:

Interviews will take place in person after work at the OSSTF D16 Office on February 11, 2026.
